“I am prepared to go anywhere, provided it be forward!”
It was David Livingstone, the Scottish Missionary, who said, “I am prepared to go anywhere, provided it be forward.” Livingstone left London of the 17th November 1840, bound for the Cape of Good Hope (Cape Town). From here he launched out into the African Continent, taking with him the good news of Jesus Christ.
During the time we have served as missionaries in Southern Africa, we have lived in and traveled through many of the areas where David Livingstone worked and moved, particularly in Botswana and Zimbabwe.
I have always been interested in Livingstone’s life and work here in Africa. Although he was not the perfect missionary, I am inspired and motivated by his vision to take the Gospel into the African Continent, equipping men and women in far flung places to effectively know and serve Christ.
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye” - Psalm 32:8
Prefectly coupled with Livingstone’s quote above is Psalm 32:8, which says, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye”. This has been my life’s verse since I came to know the Lord back in 1984, and it offers a beautiful promise of guidance, counsel, and intimate connection with God. It paints a picture of divine guidance that is personal, attentive, and unwavering. With God's guidance and counsel, we can walk confidently in our journey with Him.
I’ve chosen the word FORWARD as my theme word for 2025 and Psalm 32:8 as my theme verse. As I trust in the Lord’s instruction, guidance and counsel, He will indeed move me, my family, and our ministry, the Peter Project Initiatve FORWARD in the coming year.
PLANS FOR 2025
Travel Plans
Joanne and I are planning on driving up to Zimbabwe for the Graduation Ceremony at the beginning of May. We are excited to be a part of what will be the first graduation of students through the program. This will be an important milestone for us that will be enthusiastically celebrated by the students and teachers alike, who have been faithful to the task.
I’ll also be traveling to Ghana at some stage for their Graduation Ceremony. At this stage no date has been set. Joanne does not travel with me on these longer trips as the cost is prohibitive.
There may be another opportunity for us to travel to Zimbabwe later in the year as we seek to open up three new training centers in the capital city Harare, Bindura (north of Harare) and Binga in north-western Zimbabwe.
Fundraising for the Peter Project Initiative
Our goal is to have $5000 in monthly support coming into the Peter Project Fund. Our average monthly income during 2024 was $1924.00. As we seek to expand the ministry in the countries where we already operate, as well as expand into new countries, we will need to increase the current level of income.
This will be one of our focus areas in 2025 as we seek to reach the goal we have set of $5000 in monthly income.
Please pray for us as we seek to share this important ministry in new churches in the coming year. As your church starts planning your Missions Calendar for 2025, please keep us in mind for your Missions Conference if you are planning one. Please reach out to us at peacocke.graham@ifmnews.com, if you would like us to be a part of your Missions Conference this year.
Leadership team in Zimbabwe
Development of a National Ledership Team
Up until now, I have been running the Peter Project Initiative on my own, training up national leadership in the countries where we currently minister. One of the goals I set last year was to begin to develop an African Leadership Team to assist me with some of the training and travel.
Consequently, I was able to take Pastor Mathew Yennaah with me on our visit to Kenya in March 2024. He was a valauble part of the training team, taking on a much of the training and preaching.
I plan to take Pastor Saidi Alubi from Zimbabwe with me on one of my trips to Ghana as and when funds permit. I believe that this will be a valuable exercise going forward as we seek to develop a strong leadership team that will ensure the long term viability of the ministry.
Plans to expand the Peter Project Initiative to new countries in Africa
It still remains my vision and goal to expand the ministry of training Africa’s untrained pastors and church leaders to more countries in Africa. However, our current priority is to expand the ministry in the countries where we are currently operating - Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya and South Africa.
Just yesterday, a pastor in Uganda reached out to us asking if we could start the Peter Project Initiative in that country where there is a great need to train pastors and church leaders. We currently have contacts in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Zambia, and Malawi, and we are praying for the opportunity to also begin the ministry in Namibia and Botswana. The doors are open for us to expand, but we realise that we need to patiently wait on the Lord for His timing and provision of funds (Ps 32:8).
